Great Moments In Unlicensed Pittsburgh Sports Merch: Double Yoi!

Check out this cool unlicensed shirt I found lying around my apartment. I didn’t even know I had it. It commemorates legendary Steelers voice Myron Cope, who is apparently an “Authentic Pittsburgh.” It’s got his catchphrase YOI real big and stuff, because I doubt Myron had a license on it. There’s a football with a headset on, too, so you can associate AUTHENTIC PITTSBURGH with the game of football and imagine its a Steelers shirt even though it doesn’t say it anywhere. Clever.

You may recognize the varying designs of this farily-common unlicensed piece of merch. I’ve seen a number of Cope YOI shirts on the North Shore. If you look back at this Twitpic from this episode of the [Unnamed] Steelers Pregame Show, you can see Cotter rocking another YOI shirt. We were giggling after saying Dixie‘s name out loud. Try it.

Looks like y’all need to get your own YOI shirts. Much better than anything you’re wearing right now.

If you have any unlicensed Pittsburgh sports gear, or awesome generic sports gear from any team, send them to me and I’ll post them.
