Great Moments In Unlicensed Pittsburgh Sports Merch: Lemieux’s 5 Goals 5 Ways

Thanks to Penshead for this classic pic. Pens coach Dan Bylsma made headlines earlier this offseason when he visited Evgeni Malkin in Russia and O WOW WHAT A SHIRT ON THAT ONE CRAZY RUSSIAN DUDE! No not that crazy Russian dude, the other one.

I don’t think I’ve ever wanted a shirt more than I want this beautiful generic top showcasing Mario Lemieux’s record 5 goals in 5 different ways. Here’s a closeup:

The 5 officially different goals were shorthanded, full strength, powerplay, penalty shot, and empty net. I can’t tell if each one is listed as such, or another way. All I can tell is there’s a skating penguin absolutely abusing some horrifically anthropomorphic New Jersey Devils logo. Lemieux’s historic game came against the Devils on the last day of 1988, and the shirt has a nice HAPPY NEW YEAR to commemorate.

With no officials logos or team names shown, this is like the holy grail of unlicensed shirts. Mario’s special feat deserves nothing less.

And Russia needs to send me one asap.

If you have any unlicensed Pittsburgh sports gear, or awesome generic sports gear from any team, send them to me and I’ll post them.
