Great Moments In Unlicensed Pittsburgh Sports Merch: Reservoir’s Steeler Ale

psampmerchfeature

This is a beer tap at Reservoir, a fantastic Steelers bar in Manhattan.

Reservoir is a great place to watch Steelers games. I think the owner is originally from Pittsburgh, or at least has some ties there. You can see the Steelers helmet and Super Bowl XLIII hat in the background. But it’s the house Reservoir Ale that gets the attention. I’ve called it both Reservoir Ale and Steeler Ale when ordering it, so with the Steelers logo included, it more than warrants a mention here. I doubt the Steelers have officially licensed Reservoir’s own ale, so it fits right in with the rest of the unlicensed Pittsburgh sports stuff in the archives.

I only went to a few games at Reservoir this past season, mostly early on. Once the season gets older and superstition starts kicking in at a higher rate, I’m bound by my sports oddities. I was gonna go back to Reservoir for the Super Bowl, but had watched the other playoff games at my apartment. So I had to watch the Super Bowl at my place, too. I did the same during Super Bowl XLIII and we won, but things didn’t work out as well this season. So that superstition is hovering at a 50% conversion rate. No clue what all these stats mean. Maybe that I’m just an idiot.

Anyway, come to New York City, go to Reservoir and order a Reservoir Ale or Steeler Ale or whatever you wanna call it.

Go Steelers.

If you have any unlicensed Pittsburgh sports gear, or awesome generic sports gear from any team, send them to me and I’ll post them.
