Thanks to Penshead for this. He was recently in Pittsburgh for the final home game of the regular season, and caught this shirt on Forbes.
This is as good a time as any to feature this shirt, what with the playoffs like a day away. Seriously, I can’t believe a year has passed since the 09 Cup run. But another year brings another chance to win the Cup, and winning it again this year would mean the second repeat in team history. And now the start of these playoffs means the Penguins’ run as champs is officially over.
I’m not sure what flags those are, as I’m a shallow American and I’m also a lazy American because I could’ve easily Googled each of the translations of the word Repeat but I didn’t. I was too into the request to DO IT AGAIN IN 2010. It seems to be a simple, cliché catchphrase for an unlicensed sports piece, but I kinda like this one. Maybe because I have the same feelings as this shirt.
To complete it, the bottom shows a the word PITTSBURGH that looks eerily like an officially licensed PITTSBURGH PENGUINS script. It’s a familiar font and style, and the vendor can play off you sense of memory to get you to buy their stuff.
Either way, I would wear this while watching the Pens repeat for sure.
