Great Moments In Unlicensed Pittsburgh Sports Merch: La Botticella

Yesterday, I highlighted the opening of WHATEVER IT TAKES, an art exhibition focused on Steelers fans. The display prominently includes a live Skype feed of La Botticella, a sick Steelers bar in Rome, Italy.

While we were at training camp, we spotted a La Botticella shirt making its way through the crowd. And after Dino’s, it’s the second unlicensed Steelers shirt from an eatery/bar that we saw at camp. I didn’t catch the front of this shirt, so I can only comment on the back. The shirt’s design features the officially-licensed Steelers name in the classic Gunplay font, but I doubt the NFL is patrolling the watering holes in Rome for a reason to send out a cease and desist. Then again, they’ve already tried to conquer Youtube and the virtual world, so who knows?

If you have any unlicensed Pittsburgh sports gear, or awesome generic sports gear from any team, send them to me and I’ll post them.

*UPDATE* Thanks to Penshead for this. You can see the front of the shirt here. That’s the bar owner in the hat. The shirt reads Veni Lusi Vici, which is Italian for I came, I played, I conquered. Nice. And then there’s Roman numerals for every Super Bowl win.

Great shirt. Makes my Italian side proud.
