The 2011 Pirates season sure provided a wide range of emotions. Through the end of July, the team was battling for 1st place in the division. And immediately after the end of July, the Pirates went on to record a historically bad win/loss ratio among all teams that was at or near 1st place at the time the Pirates were. We caught a lot of actual Pirates fans relishing this brief moment of near-success. There were also a ton of non-Pirates fans who wanted to be a part of something special. I had love for everyone…it’s not often we even get the Pirates discussed on a national stage so the ups will be remembered just as much if not more than the downs of 2011.
Which means there was an influx of Pirates-related unlicensed merch that started floating around. The Buccos usually get the least amount of love from the generic vendors, due partly to their usually-terrible record. But more and more and more started pouring in while the Buccos prospered. It got to the point where I couldn’t keep up. So here are all the other Pirates unlicensed merch pieces from 2011 that haven’t been published here yet. The Pirates are playing their final games of the season, so it’s time to look back on this year and what it meant to the fans the unlicensed vendors.
Thanks to Marissa and Letangueray and Mike and Steve for these.
Go Buccos.
If you have any unlicensed Pittsburgh sports gear, or awesome generic sports gear from any team, send them to me and I’ll post them.
