Great Moments In Unlicensed Pittsburgh Sports Merch: The Bus

As soon as Jerome Bettis came to the Steelers and was nicknamed “The Bus,” you could almost hear all the vendors rushing to make merchandise to honor the killer moniker.

So thanks to Matt D. for this. We already saw a Bettis-inspired piece of unlicensed goodness last week, and the one above is just following suit. School buses are typically black and gold, so it isn’t too much of a stretch to make a Bus shirt look like a Steelers piece of merchandise without actually using the licensed STEELERS name.

As you can see, all you have to do is throw some random hypocycloids in the air, floating adjacent to the main image. Get Bettis’ number involved, and you’re already like 99% of the way there. You can probably show this shirt to a non-Steelers fan and they’d know it was a Steelers homage.

Matt goes on to say, “I got it in 2005 after the Steelers lost to Jacksonville in OT. A depressing loss no doubt, but then we won the Superbowl. With the Steelers under similar circumstances this year, PSAMP should bust it out and see what happens.

We need it now more than ever, Matt. I’m that superstitious.

If you have any unlicensed Pittsburgh sports gear, or awesome generic sports gear from any team, send them to me and I’ll post them.
