Kinda forgot to mention yesterday that the Pittsburgh Passion, the city’s premier women’s football team, won their season opener over the weekend. 29-6 against the Detroit Demolition.
Moving to NYC makes it harder and harder to keep up with the 2007 NWFA champs and current IWFL juggernauts, so I can only really rely on press releases and such until I come up with a better plan. From their website:
“Touchdowns scored by Lisa Horton, Wilma Walton, Lori Johnson, and Amanda Haeg. The defense was led by JoJo Warner. Sharon Vasquez and Michelle Brevard both picked up interceptions.
The game will air on FSN this Wednesday at 7:30pm, and also on multiple Armstrong channels and Comcast OnDemand. Full TV schedule available at www.pittsburghpassion.com. From Pennsylvania to California, and from Maine to Puerto Rico, televised Passion Football now reaches more than 17 million homes coast to coast in the United States.”
My buddy Steve also said that the team looked good. I’ll take him at his word.
The team’s loss in the playoffs last year was their first since the end of the 2006 season, so we’re on our way to another sick win streak.
Next week brings the Baltimore Nighthawks to Pittsburgh.
