Some Sobering Words About Those Lost In Car Accidents

When you have a minute, please read the touching tribute from my friend Matt at Sharapova’s Thigh. Basbeall pitcher Nick Adenhart was killed in a car accident, as were two other non-MLBers. Matt’s friend Henry Pearson, pictured above, was one of the two others. Matt took the time to let everyone know about his friend’s short but splendid life.

When pitcher Josh Hancock was killed in a car accident two years ago, I took the time to remember my own close friends, Alex and Paul, who were killed in separate auto accidents. Alcohol was not the contributing factor in either of their accidents, as was the case with the motorist who killed Adenhart and Pearson, but the entire situation just brings back a rush of emotions.

Again, read Matt’s tribute to his fallen friend, and take care every time you get behind the wheel of a car.

And for God’s sake, don’t drink and drive.

Rest in peace to Henry Pearson, Nick Adenhart and Courtney Stewart. And here’s hoping that the one survivor in critical condition, Jon Wilhite, recovers quickly.
