In yesterday’s season-opening 11-5 win over LA, the Pirates’ Garrett Jones homered in his first two at-bats. I mentioned to my friend Matt that the first one was huge, since he was a guy that hit like a million of them in a relatively few games after getting called up last year. As a guy who hung around the minors for a few years, he had to be anxious to show everyone that last year wasn’t a fluke.
And that was before he hit the second one. I only needed the first one to put my mind at ease. He’s gonna be all right this season.
I just wanted to show love, as Garrett deserves it. He’s doing so well that I didn’t even have a joke or anything to make. Except that picture, and that isn’t even the same Garrett Jones.
