I took some time on Friday to catch up with my boy maticulous at the Fat Beats NY store for a performance by the great Brooklyn underground hip hop set, Brown Bag Allstars. They did the soon-to-be-deceased store proud with a fantastic performance. While there, my bud Penshead spotted a signed Mobb Deep picture among hundreds of others lining the ceiling. Upon closer look, Mobb Deep producer/rapper Havoc is sporting a Steelers hat.
As a Steelers fan that used to live just outside Pittsburgh and now in Queens, seeing a member of the legendary Queens rap group wearing a Steelers hat sorta sums everything up. I’ve actually met a TON of former Pittsburghers living in Queens now, so Mobb was probably just respecting the local folk. Plus the Jets and Giants play in New Jersey, so they don’t get the Steelers-love.
I would watch a Steelers game with Mobb Deep.
