Kings defenseman Drew Doughty signed a jillion-year, gazillion-dollar contract recently. How a team can commit that much cap space and years to a blue liner is beyond me, but LA wants him around so good for Drew I guess.
That just goes to help us appreciate Ray Shero signing guys like Brooks Orpik and Kris Letang to cap-friendly deals while securing top-pairing talent like Martin and Michalek to 5 mil apiece in free agency.
One blue liner deserving of all the money in the world is Cardboard Orpik (via PensInsideScoop). That guy would probably be the captain in Philly what with the Flyers giving pylon Pronger the C this year.
