Thanks to my bud Penshead for this. He snapped this pic when he was back in Pittsburgh for the opening 2 games at Consol Energy Center.
What we have here is a fantastic display of several key unlicensed tactics. Black and Gold is everywhere on this shirt. The city name of PITSTBURGH is noted right above a football, to imply that it belongs to the Steelers because you can’t officially license a city name. And then there’s the STEEL TOWN, which sounds close enough to Steelers without actually mentioning them.
Finally, there’s the year that every Steelers fan knows, 1933…the year the the Steelers were founded and first took the field.
As much as I like deconstructing generic merch like this, I’m almost more pumped for the hand-written sign underneath the garment. Sizes Medium-to-XL are all grouped together because they always get all the love and who wears those stupid sizes? 2XL and 3XL are where it’s at.
Go Steelers.
